The IAB meeting was held in conjunction with the XIX International Botanical Congress, from 23–29 July 2017.
Bryophytes were strongly represented, with five dedicated symposia covering bryophyte phylogenomics, evolution, biodiversity, phylogeography, Asian and Chinese bryology, and the role of early land plants in research and education. Bryophyte contributions were also included in numerous other sessions, together with 51 posters.
The whole IBC congress brought together 6,850 botanists from around the world, making it the largest International Botanical Congress held at that time.
