Join Bryonet-L, the IAB discussion list
Bryonet-L is an email discussion and news group sponsored by IAB, and open to anyone. The intent of the list is to provide good international discussions and a forum in which teachers, ecologists, bryologists and anyone interested can get questions about bryophytes answered.

Use the list to…
- Ask bryological questions
- Send news items of interest to bryologists
- Announce bryological meetings and forays
- Announce publications
- Ask for help locating a bryologist or bryological collections
Teachers are especially encouraged to bring questions to the list.
How messages work
Where your mail goes
- If the sender is a member, messages go directly to all members of the list.
- If the sender is not a member, the message goes to the manager for approval first.
Note — Messages you send may not appear in your own email — many institutions block receiving your own list mail.
Advice on posting
Get good answers
Use a clear subject line
Put an appropriate, specific subject line on every message.
Give enough detail
Broad questions tend to get ignored. “What do you think about evolution in bryophytes?” is too broad to draw useful replies.
Reply to the list
Respond “to list” unless your message is genuinely personal.
Remember the lurkers
Around 90% of the list are lurkers who quietly learn from the discussions — your question helps many people.
