Profile

Boon‑Chuan Ho is a Singaporean bryologist who works at the Herbarium of the Singapore Botanic Gardens, studying bryophytes across tropical Asia.

Trained in Leiden, Bonn (Germany) and Duke University (USA), his research has contributed broadly to understanding bryophyte diversity and evolution in Southeast Asia and beyond.

He has authored around 100 scientific publications, including about 80 peer‑reviewed papers and several book chapters.

Boon‑Chuan teaches plant diversity at the National University of Singapore as an adjunct, contributes to IAB activities, and supports efforts to document and conserve bryophytes in the Asian tropics and subtropics.

In 2025, he received the Riclef Grolle Award for Excellence in Bryodiversity Research from IAB.
