Profile

Claudio is a graduate from the National University of Mexico (UNAM) in Mexico City; he received a Master’s degree from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville, and a Ph D from Duke University. He is a researcher at the Biology Institute, UNAM since 1973, with interest in Systematics, Floristics and Phytogeography of Mexican and Neotropical mosses; his publications sum around 173 academic contributions (articles, book chapters, and miscellaneous notes). He has been graduate and undergraduate professor at UNAM’s School of Sciences and the Metropolitan University.

His editorial work includes Mexican and international journals, was distinguished with the ”Riclef Grolle Award for Excellence in Bryodiversity Research” in 2009 and the Botanical Merit Medal from the Botanical Society of Mexico in 2019; his name is associated with the names of three bryophyte species, a fern, and a tardigrade.

Dr. Delgadillo was founder and is currently Curator of the Bryophte Collection at MEXU.
